Remember Josh Waitzkin? The Chess wizkid portrayed in the immortal movie Searching for Bobby Fischer. He quit chess when he was 18 when he missed the World Junior Chess Championship by a whisker. He then took up the martial art Tai Chi and he went on to become a World Champion all while continuing his studies. Between the two sports, 21 National Championships and several World Championship titles, noted seminar and keynote address speaker, and guest lecturer in many Ivy League schools. All within the age of 30. Now we know excellence can be achieved by putting in 10000 hours of hard work in any field. But in multiple fields? Therein lies the lesson to the community that we serve, and hence this post.
