EXAM PATTERN READING
- Duration: One hour
- The reading passages may include pictures, graphs, tables or diagrams
- Length of the passage may vary from 500 to 1000 words
- Difficulty is in ascending order
- Types of questions
- Multiple choice questions, Gap filling exercises, Matching headings with paragraph, Matching two parts of split sentences, Short answers to open questions, No/Yes/Not given Statements.
- Completing of Sentences, Summaries, Diagrams, Tables, Flow charts and notes.
- No minus for Wrong answers.
WRITING
- Duration – One hour
- Two tasks are given
- Task 1 Duration – 20 minutes Minimum word limit : 150
- Only one question and no choice
- Academic Training: Contains diagram, Pie chart, tables, maps or a combination of one or two.
- General Training – Letter writing usually provided with a situation
- Task 2 Duration – 40 minutes Minimum word limit : 250
- Should write an essay on an academic topic
- No specified knowledge is required
- Organization of ideas, Sentence structures, grammar and flow are taken into account.
SPEAKING
- Duration – 13 to 15 minutes
- Speaking is conducted separately either on the same day or the previous day or the next day of the exam.
- One to One Communication.
- Conversation is recorded.
- Part 1: Introduction and Interview dealing with personal information.
- Part 2: Individual long term – Given a card which gives a topic.
- You will be given one min to prepare and give short talk for 1 to 2 min
- Part 3 : Two way discussion, Lasts for 3 to 4 minutes, Longer answers & interaction required.
